The company was founded by Alfredo A. Ciotola in June 1980 and began as a valve service company. It then extended to service mechanical seals and pumps and eventually evolved into a firm providing custom engineered mechanical solutions to: Municipalities (Potable & Waste Water), Utilities, Marine, Industrial, Chemical, Petro Chemical, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Power Plants in general, and Universities' R&D Departments.

Frontline has patented several products such as mechanical seals, gland bolting arrangement, flange sealing devices and flexible shaft couplings, carving a niche for itself in the industry.

Over the many years of industrial equipment overhaul and field services, Frontline installed thousands of couplings of various size and design. Every coupling design has its own inherent advantages and disadvantages. Some of the disadvantages turned out to be very costly for both the end user and Frontline. Therefore Frontline decided to design and build a flexible shaft coupling that would solve most of the common problems associated with the existing coupling designs.

Frontline is proud to have finalized the Big Boy^® Line of Couplings which has been running in the field since 1995 and has proven itself in a wide variety of applications.
